Craft Circle Friday 8 January, 1.00pm- 2.30pm Friday 5 February, 1.00pm- 2.30pm An informal monthly meeting for anyone with an interest in crafts. Free. No need to book, just turn up on the day. 09 16 January - 27 February Araam: Breathing Space features the work of two young artists, Halima Cassell and Zarah Hussain. Cassell works with clay, and more recently with stone and wood. She produces complex sculptural pieces that fuse together diverse cultural influences from her Asian roots and her fascination with African pattern work, to Islamic architectural geometry. Hussain's paintings and animations are influenced by the profound beauty of Islamic geometry. Her delicately painted oils and watercolours are a contemporary presentation of this ancient form of artistic expression. This exhibition will include existing works and work in progress, giving an insight into each artist's creative process. Everyone is invited to attend the opening of the exhibition from 12.00pm- 2.00pm on Saturday 16 January. Araam: Breathing Space is initiated by Shisha, the international agency for contemporary South Asian crafts and visual arts, in partnership with Mid Pennine Arts.
